An 80’s theme wedding or 80’s wedding party theme is a great way to allow guests to break away from traditional wedding and remember the good things about the 80s decade while celebrating your good fortune! If done correctly, your event can capture the elegance of the 80’s without reveling in some of the more tacky aspects. Mostly, the event will provide fun and levity for all involved and will remind everyone that while it was a fun decade, it is best left being a theme for a wonderful evening or event.
The 80's encompassed so many aspects of life and affected everything from music, politics, culture to sports and food that it was virtually impossible to ignore or not be influenced by in some way. The music had something for just about everyone. It ranged from Duran-Duran and Madonna to Def Leppard and AC/DC to Bryan Adams and Bruce Springstein. Tina Turner, Journey, the Rolling Stones were still going strong. Boy George, and Cindy Lauper made their big-time debuts while groups like Heart, Journey, the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith enjoyed a comeback.
80’s theme weddings can also call on the decade of big in terms of colors. No 80’s theme wedding or reception would be replete without a hot pink or neon green undercurrent, two colors that regained popularity towards the end of the decade. The message with 80’s colors, as with most from the decade is that more, bolder and brighter always says more and says it louder. If you do not want to style your entire wedding around an 80’s theme, keep it to just the music at the reception. Another idea is to include a disposable wedding camera on every table so that guests can build a CD or scrapbook that commemorates the day and reminds us all of how diverse the 80’s was. IDEAS: 1. Play music such as B52’s, Blondie, Prince, The Police, Bon Jovi, Madonna and Michael Jackson. 2. Have guests come dressed in 80’s fashion. 3. Decorate the tables with 80’s records and pictures all of which you can find at most thrift shops. 4. Pass out 80’s party favors such as miniature bottles of hair spray or engraved headbands. 5. Have disposable cameras on everyone’s table for those candid shots. 6. Rent a “Photo booth” for additional fun picture activity. 7. Hire “80’s Celebrity Look-a-likes” to mingle with the guest. 8. Have some 80’s movies playing on television monitors throughout the party hall. All these ideas can assist you with making a FUN, MEMORABLE 80’s wedding celebration for everyone ! .

80s costume party not sure what to wear or how to put together the awesome 80s costume? The key to achieving the 80s look, regardless of the specific costume you choose, is excess. It was after all the decade of excess – the me, big and bright decade.
Moderation is for other decades. Add the extra layer of blush, blue eyeliner, go for another spray with the Aqua Net. Throw on the spiked belts, leg warmers, and pile on the bracelets. The 80s look is about color, volume, and abundance. The Bigger and Louder the better! Whether you choose dress like style of Madonna or Prince to Punk or the Preppie look, do it with style and loudness.
